Ocean’s Call

ocean

Sky, so high and vast
Sun, so bright and blinding
Sea, so deep and puzzling
Sand and shells, countless yet precious
So who are we, in the face of nature?

I’m living most of my days in the midst of concrete jungle. And so perhaps, my most treasured moment of my trip is to sit by the waters for hours, staring at the waves, listening to the call of the ocean.

There’s always something almost hypnotic listening to the rhythms of the waves. It’s a simple scenery, nothing much but plain blue ocean and sands. But to witness that the Earth is so much bigger than us, is a really liberating thought.

And for a moment I felt free. There’s no self-imagined importance, no pressures to conform, no desire to battle anything. And for a moment, I could just be still… and just be.

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the Earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”
-Rachel Carson.

  1. Your thought about the sky, about the water and sands, it is a simple thought (in a good way). People can see that everyday, but not everyone can “see” it like you do. Yes, earth is big, I couldn’t agree more. What I’m trying to say is, this post made my day. When I read this, felt like I was really in the beach with my feet resting in the sands, waters dancing and the salty breeze here and there. I suddenly feel so blessed that I’m living on such an amazing planet.
