We don’t have to be super heroes or go on an adventure.
We don’t have to dress all fancy or live in a pretty castle.
We don’t have to talk all day or find ways to laugh in every waking moment.
I just wish you could sit with me, and we can quietly watch the way the grass grow. Because even then, I know that I’ll still have the best day with you. 🙂

Beautiful, vibrant, and full of warmth
Dances freely along with the wind
But isn’t ironic, that one of the most beautiful of all creations…
Is made to be ultimately untouchable?
Sometimes, I think of you as the flame.
I always loved water: its serenity, calmness, along with its powerful soars. But recently, I’ve noticed just how breathtakingly beautiful fire can be. And so, I did a series of photography experimentation playing with flames, shadow, and movement.

I never liked the way the grey sky looks
But it’s in the storm I found
A strength greater than the world
That lifted me up ever so gently,
And taught me what it is to be still.
I never wished for fire
But it’s in that desperation I felt
A hope that is unlike any other
That enveloped me in warmth,
And led me to the path of courage.
I never wanted to be tossed by the waves
But it’s in the seconds before I drowned
That I realized I was anchored
Protected in an unshakable grip,
And knew what it is to be saved.

It is not light that we need, but fire.
It is not the gentle shower, but thunder.
We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake.
Sometimes I wonder if plowing hard for work is worth it. And I often dream that I can escape to a faraway land, live in the midst of a beautiful green rice field or the ocean, spending my days doing nothing but collecting seashells. And how wonderful and carefree would that be?
But then I remind myself that humans are designed to do work. We are gifted with intelligence in order to solve problems, blessed with creativity in order to create, and empowered with the strength to run a race of endurance… If we choose to.

I know I’m climbing the edge of a cliff to find my quiet place
I know, I’m looking.
But please don’t say that I’ll fall…
You’ll make me believe that I will.
I know I’m swimming against the currents to escape the waters
I know, I’m fighting.
But please don’t say that the waves are stronger…
You’ll make me believe that I’ll drown.
I know that I’m navigating through the woods by trusting my guts
I know, I’m searching.
But please don’t say that I’m aimless…
You’ll make me believe that I’m lost.

What are illusions, according to you?
The world is full of illusions. We see what we want to see. We choose to listen to things selectively. We believe, what we think is right.
But I think, one of the most dangerous and prevalent types of all illusions… is the illusion of self. Self image. Self worth.
Sometimes, I think the world is like a Room full of Mirrors. But not just ordinary mirrors. Some of them are concave, and some are shaped like a convex. Some are broken, and some are so fogged you can barely see what they reflect.
And yet there we are, standing in the middle of it, trying to figure out who we are, what we look like, and who we should be.

We cried and we laughed. We argued and we joked around. We fought and we made up. We drifted apart… and yet we never returned.
And as I stare into the distance, I wonder if our friendship ever crossed your mind.
